How to use the Job Seekers Guide

There is a Learn section and a Tools section. Sometimes, when you get a new tool, it is helpful to have both the tool and some instructions to learn how to use it.

In the Learn section, there are 8 main ideas about employment. Each main idea has its own tab. If you click on a tab, you will go to one of the main ideas. In that section there is an introduction to explain what the section is about. In each section, there are also other tabs that take you to specific lessons and tools. Some of these lessons and tools have information for you to read and some have information for you to try. Some have both!

In the Tools Section, there are copies of each tool that you can download and use as often as you want.

If you click on the Job Seekers Guide at the top of the page, it will take you back to the home page.

If you click on Back to Employment First at the bottom of the page, it will take you to the Ohio Employment First web page.

If you click on Menu you can see all of the section tabs and then click on the one you want to visit.

Why Employment Matters

Many people with developmental disabilities (DD) would like the opportunity to work. Everyone has skills, talents and interests. Everyone can be a part of their community.

We know that community employment is good for workers, businesses and for the community. That is why the State of Ohio wants to help you. The Job Seekers Guide will help you find community employment and move forward on your Path to Employment.

Jobs can be hard to find, especially for people with developmental disabilities. But we know that more employers are learning that people with DD are good workers. People with DD are often reliable, hard-working, careful, and dedicated workers.

The State of Ohio is working to make sure that in the future there will be more jobs and more supports for people who want to work.
