What's the Big Deal?

Things that are posted on the internet or on a cell phone can spread to a lot of people very quickly. This means that many people might be able to read or see the damaging information.

It can be difficult to get away from a cyberbully. Cyberbullying can happen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and reach you even when you are alone. It can happen any time of the day or night.

It is hard to completely delete inappropriate or harassing messages, texts, and pictures after they have already been sent or posted.

Cyberbullying can make you feel anxious and unsafe at home, if that is where you are using your computer or cell phone. Your home is a place that is meant to be safe.

Cyberbullying can be very mean. Cyberbullies often write or post very bad things because they cannot see the person they are hurting and because the other person cannot see them.
