Checking with Your Health Insurance Company

Health insurance companies have a list of doctors who are “in-network”.

“In-network” means your insurance will pay for part of the doctor’s visit.

You may still need to pay some money (this is called a “co-pay”) when you see a doctor.

You can also go to doctors who are “out-of-network.”

“Out-of-network” means that your insurance won’t pay for the doctor’s visit or that they pay less of the visit than going to an “in-network” doctor.

You may need to pay more money for the doctor’s visit when you go to an “out-of-network” doctor.
