What to do about Abuse?

If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

If you can, leave the location where the abuse is happening.

Realize that this behavior is wrong, and that being abused is not your fault.

Tell someone you trust right away. If someone doesn’t listen to you, find another person you can trust or a professional.

If you want to talk with someone who understands abuse, please call the 24-hour National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

If someone else is being abused, you might not know what to do. You might think it is none of your business or that you might be hurt too. Speaking out can be hard. You need to tell a trusted person about abuse you know about.
