Sharing your Feelings
It’s important to listen to our feelings and to share our feelings with others. It helps us build stronger relationships with people that we care about if we share our thoughts and feelings with them, such as “I really like spending time with you.” We also need to listen to the other person’s feelings. If someone is doing or saying something that is making us feel funny or uncomfortable, it is important to speak up and say, “I don’t like this.” It is important to speak up and tell others how you feel. Nobody can tell you how you should feel!
We call it a boundary when we tell someone what we like or don’t like. This means we make choices and decisions in our relationships with others. We are making these choices and decisions all the time. We base these decisions on our feelings, our thoughts, and our knowledge. Having healthy boundaries is important in our relationships with others.
