Healthy Eating
Living a healthy life means that you are paying attention to what you eat and drink. It is important to know how much food you eat and how much you drink.
If you exercise much, you may eat and drink more. If you do little exercise, you may need less food and less to drink.
You need to eat different kinds of foods to make sure your body gets what it needs.
If it is hard for you to eat certain types of foods (maybe you don’t like the texture of a food, or you don’t like the smell or taste of it), talk to your doctor. They may have helpful tips for you. They may also suggest that you take some vitamins or other supplements.
Another way to be healthy is to eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables each day. You can buy fresh fruit and vegetables at the grocery store or farmer’s market.
Sometimes, it is difficult to find fresh fruits and vegetables.
It is fine to eat frozen fruits and vegetables instead of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Some fruits and vegetables also come in cans or containers.
It is fine to eat those, too.
Be sure to read the labels on your food and drinks so you know how much salt, sugar, and fats are included.
It is better when the label or package says something like “no sodium” or “low sodium.” It should also say something like “no added sugar” or “low sugar.”
